We are so happy you have chosen St. Pius X Catholic Church as your home church. We welcome all our families. We realize that families come in many shapes and sizes, including single parents, military families, families with older children, and families with younger children. We rejoice to have you with us.
During our weekend Masses, we welcome all our youngest family members. We know sometimes little ones can get fussy or uneasy during Mass. If the fussy child or other distractions as the parent make you uncomfortable, you may walk your child to the back for a short time or use the cry room at the back of the church. Once your child settles, we hope you will rejoin the parish family in the pews again. Children are a sign of our call to honor and respect life at all ages and, too, a sign that the church is growing. Please consider this when preparing to bring your youngest to Mass.
In the back of the church, in a cart, are books appropriate for young children. Please have your child pick up a book or two for them to ‘read’ during Mass. We ask that these books be returned at the end of Mass for others to enjoy.
Children’s Liturgy of the Word, also known as Explorers, meets during the 11 AM Mass on Sunday mornings during the Liturgy of the Word (Scripture readings and homily). Children aged 3 to 6 years are encouraged to attend. A trained minister leads this session. During these 15-20 minutes, children hear the Scriptures and discuss the Gospel’s message on their level. The children return to their pew during the passing of the collection baskets. There is no registration needed.
To participate, children approach the altar when the priest calls them forward during the 11 AM Mass.
Baptisms are held several times each year. For further information and to register for one of our Baptisms, please see the registration form on our website or call the parish office.
First Reconciliation and First Eucharist are appropriate for children in 2nd grade and at least seven years of age. Preparation is needed before each Sacrament. Children should be attending Catholic school OR parish religious education classes. Please call the parish for further information.
Please be aware that all those who consistently minister to children comply with the Diocesan Safe Environment guidelines, which include background checks and training in awareness of unsafe practices.
